MSA United Research Consortium is a global association of charities united in their dedication to fight Multiple System Atrophy. MSA is a rare, fast and fatal neurodegenerative disorder. Major symptoms can occur in any combination including ataxia (loss of balance and coordination), severe low blood pressure leading to dizziness or fainting when standing, bladder retention or incontinence, constipation, male impotence, speech and swallowing difficulties, sleep disorders, breathing problems, and rigidity and tremor. Statistical data gives the average age of onset at 50 and the average course of the disease at about 5-10 years.

Realizing that much of the current attention is focused on more widely known diseases, MSA is often overlooked. MSA patients are confronted with a dim prognosis and left with few options. Staffed entirely by volunteers who are personally, and therefore passionately connected to MSA, MSA United Consortium members are dedicated to the ultimate defeat of MSA.
